Hello to our JYFL family. It is deeply saddening to have to share this news. Last week, Coach Brandon Mahle was discovered in his home. He had passed away, the cause yet to be determined. The family is in shock right now, as we all have been struggling through this tragic time.
A memorial account has been established in memory of Brandon at AlaskaUSA. The account number is 1822302. All donations should be made out out to either Tiffany Mahle or AlaskaUSA in order to assure that they go to the proper account. This fund will be dedicated toward a youth sports scholarship in his honor. The League has made a monetary donation to the family to help support them through this difficult time.
On Friday, Feb 7th there will be a community memorial service at Thunder Mountain High School from 5:00-7:30pm. This will be a 'pre-game' style potluck for any students, families, friends and community members who would like to come and share stories, laugh, eat (please bring a favorite finger food to share), any photos you may have of the Coach and to express condolences to Brandon’s family during this great time of sadness. A candlelight moment of silence will occur at 7:15pm on the field. The family asks that you wear your favorite team’s jersey or colors for this event and that you offer to “pay it forward” to child within our community in honor of Brandon’s dedication and love for “his kids”. It will be very special to see our JYFL family show up in their jerseys to honor Coach Mahle.
On Saturday, February 8th a funeral service for family and friends will be held at Valley Church, 9741 Mendenhall Loop Road, at 1:00pm. There will be a full obituary with other details this week in the Juneau Empire, thank you again for your thoughts a prayer.
If you would like to contact Tiffany her mailing address is PO BOX 210723 Auke Bay, AK. 99821.
Thanks to each and every one of you for all you do and how much you care. Be safe. Go home and hug your kiddos. Life is precious.
Jennifer Maier, JYFL President
A huge Thank You goes out to Fred Meyer for donating $10,000 to the Juneau Youth Football League. This money will assist in securing storage for all the new gear we have purchased over the past years.
